- Commodore Hacking is seeking original artwork to be used for the WWW version
- of the Commodore Hacking E-Zine. The HTML version os issue 11 has been "hit"
- 3042 times since DEcember 4, 1995, and provides good exposure for the Commodore
- artist. Here are the criteria:
-
- Although GIF is preferred, contact us about other graphics formats. We are
- currently looking at various conversion programs. If you can help in the
- conversions, we would love to hear from you.
-
- The HTML version is in desperate need of a good front page banner "pic".
- We can probably use a couple different kinds, so feel free to submit an
- entry. We are open to almost anything, although we do have some constraints.
- The banner must
-
- be able to be resized without too much trouble. One pixel lettering and such
- extremes are not recommended.
-
- Have the Commodore logo as the "C" in Commodore. The Logo should be colored
- as CBM colored it on printed material.
-
- be colorful. As the intended auudience is those people visiting with 256
- color browsers, use of more than 4 colors is best.
-
- Be manageable in size. 640 * 200 is probably a pretty good maximum size.
- (remember, the pixels are square...)
-
- Not contain any date specific information, unless you wish to customize the
- logo for each issue.
-
- Contain the words, "Commodore Hacking"
-
- That is pretty much the only constraints:
-
- Above this, here are some suggestions:
-
- 3D logo. Maybe have the word "hacking" be horizontal, with Commodore
- slicing through it and tiled, partly going into and away from the page.
-
- Have a Commodore setup as the setting. Put the zine name on the monitor.
-
- Whatever.............
-
- As for other graphics, each page of the issue could stand some form of
- Commodore GFX. Some requirements:
-
- small size. The GFX are supposed to add to the text, not displace them.
-
- Not simply scans from games. Originality counts.
-
- Some suggestions:
-
- Use up 256 colors. These pics need not be CBM generated
-
- Some of the columns need specific "sub-banners", or detialed pics. These can
- play off the title of the column or department. The banners can be a bit
- larger than the regular GFX< though not as big as the banner on page 1.
-
- For Issue 12, the 65C816 CPU will be featured. GFX with that type of
- setting will be appreciated.
-
- Any abstract art.
-
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- The deadline is Feb 20, 1996.
-
- To the purists who shudder at the thought of using non CBM generated, let me
- state that a fair number of people who read the site are non-CBM people who
- get "itchy" for a Commodore "fix" after seeing the stuff we do. Flashy
- pictures keep eyes on the CBM material, which can bring one more into the fold.
- If neat effects can be done with CBM GFX. great. If not, I am not going to
- worry about it.
-
- The banner page is essential. WWW pages get 30 seconds to make or break a
- reader. GFX help "keep" the reader.
-
- So, try your best, and mail entries (uuencoded or MIME) to brain@mail.msen.com
